Radish Salad is something you see in several places around world, but only rarely in the states. Once radishes are salted they can be robed with traditional vinaigrette – or the more tropical variety here.
When we woke up early on Sunday with lulu embraced between us, the sun was already clarifying through the bedroom blinds. A few robins were tweeting in the trees near our window and promptly, we knew that the day would be beautiful. G. had the day off so we obvious to go to the beach, and have a picnic.
Since our plan was pretty spontaneous, I was thankful for my visit to the first farmer’s bazaar the afternoon before. I had come at house with beautiful color Radishes, Strawberries, purple spring Onions and lovely Mesclun Salad in my bazaar basket. Enough to imagine a Radish Salad that would escort a recipe of hot Fish Recipe for Lemon Butter with Capers Sauce that takes only minutes to make.
Sometimes all you need for a lovely salad is to take out the natural flavors of ripe fruits and vegetable. Creamy avocado and crispy radish cuts are seasoned with lemon juice, salt and papper in this easy and satisfying Salad.
There is a saying in Bengali with radish. You say “I am choice a radish salad” which means you don’t have any health problems. It may also mean that your body is as strong as radish. I don’t why this pretty vegetable is like for this idiom, possibly it is because of its hard texture, which is not simple to mash when raw. Maybe it’s because it has various health benefits.
Radish always reminds me of winter; it is choice the sign of this season. And we like to eat it raw as a side recipe. Even we have a green salad on table, a plate of radish cuts is often balancing with it. Sometimes when we don’t have enough time to make a large salad with many ingredients, just an easy Radish Salad accompanies our lunch. Ingredients
4 cups radishes, washed and cut
1/2 cup thinly cut onion
1 cup diced fresh tomato
1 1/4 tea spoons salt
1 small clove garlic, minced
1/8 tea spoon pepper
1 tea spoon finely chopped fresh basil or fresh mint
2 table spoons lemon juice
2 table spoons vegetable oil
Fresh chopped parsley for garnish
How to make Radish Salad
Combine cut radishes, onion and tomato. Whisk together the salt, garlic, pepper, basil or mint, lemon juice and vegetable oil. Mix with salad then garnish with parsley.
